I recently had the pleasure of becoming an artist's muse for an evening... Steven Ehre is a multimedia artist in Scottsdale, Arizona who, among other things, creates these otherworldly images based on photographs. Super cool, no? These will be hanging on my wall soon...

Autumn Story

The song is called "Autumn Story." The entire thing is chalkboard illustrations; no computer animation was used. You can see the hundreds of little erased sketches in each shot used to get an old fashioned moving cartoon look. Beautiful song, delightful and original video.

Isn't this a lovely print? I found it while clicking around through Supermarket, a very cool Etsy-esque shopping site. Designer Johanna Anderes is the designing force behind the great little letterpress shop 12Fifteen.

I would hang this in a nursery for a baby boy... If you're so inclined, act quickly -- it's a second printing of a limited edition.

Chic beach art

So much beach-themed and coastal art is so kitchy - and not in a cool, retro-kitch kind of way. There's only so many pink sea shells and talking crabs one can take, no? So I was happy to find artist Cathy Nichols via the blog A Studio with a View today. I would base the interior of my funky fresh beach house around the colors in this... Actually, the colors I used in my desert dwelling are these same colors! Must be why I like it so much.

Cathy, of course, does not-beachy work too. I particularly love this Ferris Wheel painting, which reminds me of so many of the vintage-feeling Polaroids of the same subject floating around on FLickr.

People Are Strange

People are strange from Denis Fongue on Vimeo. A really amazing and original illustrative set to my favorite song by The Doors, "People Are Strange." All the art in the video is by Violenn Simon, who created the video as a school project at ENSAAMA School of Visual Communications in Paris.

50 people, 1 question

Crush & Lovely Moving Pictures (part of Boom Design Group) created this really neat web film called 50 People, 1 Question.

The first segment was filmed in Brooklyn, perhaps around Halloween, judging from the zombies (although you never can tell in NYC, as everyone knows zombies abound at all times of year). A second segment, filmed in London, is forthcoming.

I love the answer of the girl in the aqua head scarf. I thought for a moment she was going to start talking about designer labels, but then she threw a curveball in there. And the kid talking about his dad -- what a sad situation.

Transient Art

This is so wild...
Designers at ENESS created this art installation at Mount Buller in Victoria, Australia. Giant snowballs, projected light, creepy music and a Snowplow of Destruction. This is art for the sake of art distilled into its purest form - putting so much work into something, not only knowing that it will eventually be destroyed, but destroying it yourself. A dark metaphor for life.

Or maybe they are just boys who like to drive big trucks and break stuff.
